The following are unit planning tools I was able to locate from my files. Let's discuss how helpful these are when planning a unit. Are there other strategies/considerations that need to be included? What if these had drop-down menus of ideas? You have two ways to discuss - you can either post on the discussion board like we've done in past weeks or you can add directly to this page. If you add to this page, change the color of your text.
Learning Activities . . . Product Focus Clear and Compelling Product Standards Authenticity Organization of Knowledge: (How was the information organized to help them get the work done?) Choice: (Did I provide different ways for my students to complete this task?) Novelty and Variety: (How was the work I provided different than the work they’ve done before?) Affiliation Planned: (Did I provide an opportunity for them to work alone or with others?) Affirmation: (Who will they share this work with? Who will see what they have done?) Protection from Adverse Consequences: (Is their work quality? How do I know if it is good enough?) Content and Substance/Differentiation for Learners’ Abilities and Interests: (Was the work difficult? Was the work challenging enough for all learners?)
21st Century Skills - this seems to address much of what we've talked about. ("schools must promote an understanding of academic content at much higher levels by weaving 21st century interdisciplinary themes into core subjects")
